Stewardship – a way of life

A year ago, the question was “Can we stay afloat?”  Thanks to your generosity, with God's help and guidance, we face a new question this year.

“What more can we do?” or “What more would we like to do?”

There are many aspects to Stewardship....Time, Talent and Treasure.  The church needs them all to take God's message out into the world.

Matthew 6:21 says “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”.  I think what he was telling us is “For where your heart is, there your treasure will be also”.

We found some new treasures this year.....

Reaching out to the homeless in down town Dallas

Bringing a group of homeless in for a church service and a meal

Taking the Kairos message into the women's prisons

All because someone cares.  Not because someone gave money (although there are costs involved), but because some people care enough to do something.

This is putting Stewardship into practice,  just as our Sunday School teachers do every week.  Just as those do who work on the grounds and buildings.  Just as those do who serve on search committees or other committees that keep us alive and viable in the community.  Everyone who supports the church in any way is practicing Stewardship.

However, there is still a financial element to Stewardship.  We need to keep the doors open, the lights on and the heat or air conditioning on.

As we put together an operating budget for next year, we need your help.  Please tell us, either in the form of a Pledge or in an “estimate of giving”,  how much you want to contribute to this process.  That will allow us to estimate what is available to support our existing ministries and perhaps even fund some new ones.  You can also let us know if there is a particular area you would like to be more involved with.

Remember, how you give is more important than how much you give.
